Neurotoxin Guide

Dysport vs. Botox — and Why We Chose Three Better Options

The main difference between Dysport and Botox is diffusion and onset: Dysport spreads more broadly and works faster, making it ideal for larger treatment areas. Botox stays more localized with a slightly slower onset. At SkinRx, we don't carry Botox — not because it doesn't work, but because after careful evaluation we determined that Dysport, Xeomin, and Letybo each deliver superior or equivalent results for our patients, at better value, with distinct advantages no single toxin can cover alone.

Our Curated Lineup

Three Toxins. Each Chosen for a Reason.

Most practices carry Botox because it's the name patients know. We chose differently — selecting each toxin in our lineup based on clinical performance, formulation quality, patient value, and what each one does that the others simply don't.

Dysport
Fastest Onset · Broadest Diffusion
Why we carry it
The go-to for large areas and fast results

Dysport spreads more than other toxins — and that's a feature, not a flaw. For treatment areas like the forehead, where you want smooth, natural-looking relaxation across a broader surface, that diffusion works in your favor. Results typically appear in 2 to 3 days, faster than most other options. It's one of the most widely used neurotoxins in the world for good reason.

Onset2–3 days
Duration3–4 months
DiffusionBroader spread
Best forForehead, large areas
Xeomin
Purest Formulation · Lowest Protein Load
Why we carry it
The cleanest toxin available — nothing extra

Xeomin is sometimes called the "naked toxin" because it contains only the pure botulinum toxin molecule — no accessory proteins, no additives. That purity matters: the body is less likely to build antibodies over time, which means Xeomin stays effective with repeated treatments. It's an excellent choice for patients who value a minimally complex formulation, have sensitivities, or have experienced diminishing results with other toxins. Precise and predictable.

Onset3–5 days
Duration3–6 months
DiffusionLocalized, precise
Best forPrecision, sensitive patients, repeat treaters
Letybo
Targeted Precision · Fast Onset
Why we carry it
Stays exactly where you put it

Letybo is the newest FDA-approved neurotoxin in the U.S. — but it's been the top-selling toxin in South Korea for years, with a long clinical track record before it arrived here. Its standout characteristic is precision: it does not spread the way Dysport does, making it ideal for areas where you need targeted, controlled placement. It also has a low protein load and fast onset. When a treatment requires exact results in a specific area, Letybo is often our first call.

Why We Said No

Botox & Daxxify: Why We Don't Carry Them

Saying no to the two most heavily marketed neurotoxins wasn't a decision we made lightly. Here's the honest reasoning behind it.

Botox
Not carried at SkinRx

Botox works. It's been the market standard for over two decades and has an excellent safety record. But it commands a significant price premium — one that gets passed directly to patients — without offering clinical advantages over the toxins we've chosen. Dysport, Xeomin, and Letybo each deliver equivalent or superior results for our specific treatment approach. We'd rather give our patients better value than carry a brand name for its recognition alone.

Daxxify
Not carried at SkinRx

Daxxify was introduced with significant promise: a neurotoxin that could last up to six months, roughly double the standard. In practice, that duration has proven inconsistent — market adoption has remained below 5% as providers evaluate real-world results against the higher cost. After careful evaluation, we determined it didn't meet our standard for predictable, reliable outcomes at patient-friendly pricing. When something doesn't deliver on its promises, we say so.

Decision Guide

Which Toxin Is Right for You?

Your SkinRx provider will always make a personalized recommendation — but here's a general sense of how we think about it.

Choose Dysport if…

You want fast results across a larger area

Ideal for the forehead, where broader diffusion means a smoother, more natural look. Also great if you want to see results quickly.

Choose Xeomin if…

You want the purest formulation

Best for patients who prefer a minimally complex product, have experienced sensitivities, or are concerned about long-term antibody resistance with repeat treatments.

Choose Letybo if…

You need targeted, precise placement

The right call for areas where you want results that stay exactly where they're placed — no spreading, high control, fast onset.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Dysport and Botox?
Dysport and Botox both use botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax facial muscles, but they differ in formulation and behavior. Dysport has a faster onset — often visible in 2 to 3 days — and diffuses more broadly, making it well-suited for larger treatment areas like the forehead. Botox has a slower onset of 3 to 5 days and stays more localized. SkinRx carries Dysport rather than Botox because of its clinical performance and patient value.
Why doesn't SkinRx carry Botox?
SkinRx does not carry Botox primarily because of cost — Botox commands a significant price premium that ultimately gets passed on to patients. After carefully evaluating all available neurotoxins, our team determined that Dysport, Xeomin, and Letybo each deliver excellent clinical results and represent a better value for our patients without sacrificing quality or safety.
What is Xeomin and how is it different from Botox or Dysport?
Xeomin is often called the "naked toxin" because it contains only the pure botulinum toxin molecule with no accessory proteins. This means the body is less likely to develop antibodies over time, which can reduce treatment effectiveness with repeated use. Xeomin is a good choice for patients with sensitive systems, those who have lost responsiveness to other toxins, or anyone who values a pure, minimally complex formulation.
What is Letybo and why does SkinRx carry it?
Letybo is the newest FDA-approved neurotoxin in the U.S., though it has been the top-selling toxin in South Korea for years. It is characterized by a low protein load, a precise diffusion pattern that does not spread the way Dysport does, and a fast onset of 2 to 3 days. SkinRx carries Letybo because it offers excellent precision for targeted treatment areas and a clean formulation profile.
Why doesn't SkinRx carry Daxxify?
Daxxify was marketed for its extended duration of up to 6 months, but in clinical practice it has not consistently delivered on that promise. Market adoption has remained below 5% as providers have evaluated real-world results against its pricing. After careful evaluation, SkinRx determined it did not meet our standard for patient value and predictable outcomes.
Which neurotoxin is right for me — Dysport, Xeomin, or Letybo?
The right neurotoxin depends on your anatomy, treatment area, and goals. Dysport is often preferred for larger areas like the forehead where broader diffusion is beneficial. Xeomin is an excellent choice for patients who want a pure formulation with minimal protein load and precise results. Letybo is ideal for targeted areas where controlled, non-spreading placement is the priority. Your SkinRx provider will recommend the best option during your consultation.
